Obituary

Shirley Louise Williams, 93 of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Medilodge of Leelanau in Suttons Bay where she had been a resident for the past two months.

Shirley was born on February 7, 1929 in Raisinville Township, Monroe County, Michigan to the late Edward and Minnie Louise (Sachs) Kuehnlein. She worked at the Weis Manufacturing Company in Monroe for a number of years. She married the love of her life, the late Lewis Elsworth Williams, after he returned home from service in the United States Army, on January 24, 1948. Together they raised their beloved daughter, Terri.

Shirley loved being a housewife and homemaker. She worked hard at caring for their home. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and crafting. After her husband retired they would regularly winter in Sun City, Arizona where they enjoyed touring the area and meeting new people.

In 1986 Shirley and her husband moved to Traverse City to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen where she participated in helping with many events. Two of her favorites were helping with the children's crafts and the annual planting of the
geraniums. She was grateful for the faith she was given in her Savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed worshipping with family and friends on Sunday mornings.

Shirley loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren always made her smile. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will fondly be remembered for her gentle spirit and love for her family.

Surviving Shirley is her daughter, Terri (Robert) Shoemaker, grandchildren, Erich (Sara) Shoemaker, Laura (Jason) Bauer, Annelise (Thomas) Sophiea, great grandchildren, Elizabeth Shoemaker, Oliver Shoemaker, Edwin Shoemaker, Micah Bauer, Elijah Bauer, Madeline Bauer, Jonah Bauer, Ainslee Sophiea, Isabella Sophiea, Caston Sophiea and many other loving family members and friends.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Mildred, Lester, Merlyn, Clifford and Robert.
