Shyrl Lea Sanford, age 76, of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Shyrl, living in Traverse City until the age of 18, was a 1966 graduate of Traverse City Central High School. Before returning in 2012, she spent time in Chicago and Milwaukee, where she attended Spencerian Institute. She was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary 2780. Shryl enjoyed music, dancing, family pets, cooking, and concerts. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Shyrl was preceded in death by her parents: Bill & Shirley Thomas. She is survived by her siblings: Bill (Bev) Thomas, Deb (Dave) Tharp; nieces and nephews, Shawn (Jenn) Thomas, Shannon (Larry) LaCross, Scott Thomas; great nieces and great nephews.

Interment will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to a small memorial gathering that will be held at Bill and Bev's home on Saturday, November 30, 2024. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2780 or the Cherryland Humane Society.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Villa for their great care and express appreciation for the many friendships she made while staying there.
