Sidney E. Throop

Sidney E. Throop, 86, of Traverse City, passed away October 13, 2017 with his family surrounding him.
Sid was born June 20 1931 to the late Thorp and Beatrice (Rhodes) in Traverse City.
In 1949 Sid graduated from high school.
For all that knew him, Sid was Mr. Fix It. He could repair anything and was able to pass that skill onto some of his children. He loved to garden, hunt, fish and be with his boys, always offering them a glass of his homemade wine while playing a game of cribbage when they would visit.
He would often participate in both euchre and poker tournaments with his partner Marie Thomas. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Sid is survived and missed dearly by his sons; Steven, Tim (Maria), Raymond "Rod", Daniel (Cindy) and Guy, grandchildren; Matthew, Natasha, Shena, Troy, Ryan, Casey and Jon as well as great grandchildren Brady and Steven, his partner of 40 years Marie Thomas and her children; Jeffrey, David, Kelly and James as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren and his sister Alma (Gene) Reid.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Volney, Thorp, Frank and Bill, his sisters Laura and Angeline, and his sister in laws, Jane and Virginia.
A funeral service to honor Sid's life will take place October 18, 2017 at 11:00AM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior.
His final resting place will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
