Siegfried (Zig) Roland Godt, 82, of Williamsburg passed away May 11, 2016.
Zig was born on July 7, 1933 to the late Ewald and Gerda (Reimer) in Gonzalez Chaves, Argentina. He married the woman of his dreams Carol (Posavac) and together with 57 years of marriage they raised three wonderful children; Wendy, Lawrence and Kimberly. Zig was a man of many talents. He had successful careers in law enforcement with Wayne County and Taylor police departments and owner of E-Z Plumbing and Heating Co. of Traverse City since 1969.
Though Zig was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. He was a great teacher and mentor, and was a master of the trades, able to fix, repair and build anything, as there was no job too big. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, motorcycling and all other outdoor adventures. Even though he enjoyed the hobbies his heart was with his family. He treasured every moment with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Zig is survived by his devoted wife Carol, his special daughters; Wendy DiGiovanni and Kimberly Barger-Godt, his favorite son, Lawrence (Lisa) Godt, grandchildren; Shane, Dylan, Rachel, Alexis, Olivia and Caroline, and great granddaughter Leena.
A funeral service honoring Zig will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, with a visitation one hour prior. Rev. Melissa Lopez will officiate.
A Private graveside service will be at a later time.
