TRAVERSE CITY — Sonja C. Craven, 67, of Traverse City, formerly of Glen Arbor and Denver, Colo., passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Sonja was born July, 15, 1943, to the late Ward and Virginia (Warnes) Craven in Flint.A member of the United States Army for four years, Sonja was honorably discharged. After her career with the Army, Sonja worked for Mercy Hospital in Denver while attending school and was the ward security on the ICU unit. Sonja enjoyed her Bible studies, her loving pets, outdoor activities, music and Detroit Tigers baseball.A proud aunt, Sonja loved spending time with her family, and such times would inevitably give cause for laughter and smiles. Sonja is survived by her loving sister, Deanna (Tim) Noonan, of Interlochen; seven nieces and nephews, Derek (Andrea) Pahl, of Traverse City, Dustin Pahl, of Traverse City, Dolly (Mike) Tokie, of Traverse City, Dawn (Al) Hamilton, of Empire, Shannon Noonan, of Traverse City, Patrick (Alivia) Noonan, of Traverse City, and Kelly (Brian) Kraeft, of Interlochen; companion, Bonnie Craven; and many more loving family members and friends.Sonja was preceded in death by her parents and a sister in infancy.Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. The Chaplain Kathryn Christian will officiate.
