Ms. Stacey Short, age 61, passed away on October 31, 2026, in Traverse City, Michigan.

Stacey was born on May 14, 1965, in Bay City, Michigan, to Ray and Rosalee (Breza) Short. The youngest of the family, Stacey grew up surrounded by the love of her family.

During her high school years, Stacey enjoyed staying active and involved. She was a member of the swim team and participated in the school band, where she played in the brass section. Throughout her professional career, Stacey worked as an accountant for the State of Michigan. Outside of work, she also enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm for fitness by teaching aerobic exercise classes.

Stacey was a kindhearted woman who enjoyed a good laugh and found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly dogs. She adored her beloved dog, King, as well as her Pugs, who brought her much joy and companionship over the years.

On August 8, 2008, Stacey married the love of her life, Paul Schichtel. Together, they shared 18 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship. Stacey especially enjoyed joining Paul for rides on his motorcycle, as well as spending quiet evenings together watching their favorite show, NCIS. These simple moments were among the many things that made their life together special.

Stacey will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of laughter, and the happiness she found in spending time with those she loved.

Stacey is survived by her mother, Rosalee; her loving husband, Paul; her brother, Chris; her sister, Liann (Larry), and their children; her stepson, Joshua; her stepdaughter, Christie (Jesse); her grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation honoring Stacey's life will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. A short memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. All will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. Traverse City.
