TRAVERSE CITY - Stanley L. Michael, M.D., 87, passed away Wednesday, June
30, 2010, at Appledorn Living Center in Holland.
Stanley was born April 14, 1923, in Zion, Ill., to the late Ralph and Ruth
(Swanson) Michael. He married Ellen M. Griner on June 18, 1955. Together
they had two wonderful children.
Stanley honorably served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Flight
Officer.
He went to Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan Medical School.
He was a proud member of the AMA Michigan State Medical Society. Stanley's
medical practice was very important to him and he was an honorary staff and
board member at Munson Medical Center.
Stanley loved to fly and maintained his private pilot's license for many
years. He was also a life member of the Elks Club and Central United
Methodist Church.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter, Mary (Tyler) Peterson of
Salt Lake City, Utah; son, John (Linda) Michael of Dorr; brothers, Kenneth
(Alice) Michael of Plainwell and Marvin (Carol) Michael of Mendon; and a
grandson, Kegan French of Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, David, Lawrence,
Leroy, Carl and Norman Michael.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
