Stephen Joseph Heuft., 76, of Traverse City passed away at his home on December 26, 2017.

Steve was born on October 27, 1941 in Detroit to the late Joseph Stephen and Lillian (Lescoe) Heuft.

On November 21, 1965 Steve married the love of his life, Suzanne Schumer in Detroit.

Steve graduated from Arrow Technautics High School in Detroit.

Steve started working at Walmart as a greeter. He quickly became the "Ambassador" and was well loved by his co-workers and the regulars. He made Christmas arrangements for all of his friends and was such a thoughtful man. Steve was also a collector of many things. He loved a good bargain and if you needed anything, there was a good chance Steve had it, and probably in his car. He had a wonderful sense of humor and he will be greatly missed.

Steve is survived by his wife of 52 years Suzanne; sons Rick (Dawn) Heuft and Alan Heuft; grandson Josh (Breanna) Heuft; great granddaughter Riley; sister May Zguris, niece Whitney Allen; nephew Christopher (Teresa) Zguris; and cousins John (Susan) Heuft and Dale (Pat) McClarney.

The memorial service celebrating Steve's life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior.
