Steven M. Fleis

Steven M. Fleis, 65, of Maple City passed away on January 30, 2017 at his home. Steve was born on April 9, 1951 in Traverse City to Thomas and Betty (Equitz) Fleis. He was married to Celia Wojes on August 9, 1998. Steve loved his work he was employed as a supervisor with Grand Traverse Construction until his retirement in 2014. Through his work in construction Steve help to build many Traverse City area landmarks. Steve grew up in Cedar and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He enjoyed riding his snowmobile and was affectionately known as the "Trail Boss" by his friends at the Cedar Hilltopper's Snowmobile Club. He was always willing to give a helping hand. He also grew the most beautiful roses. Steve was always looking for a good deal whether at an auction, a garage sale or reselling items he collected. Above all spending time with family and friends was his greatest joy.

Steve is survived by his loving wife Celia, his mother, Betty Fleis, four daughters and a son; Kelli Acha, Rebecca Fleis, Holli (Patrick) McNally, Travis (Kassidy) Fleis and Greta Keranen, five grandchildren; Hunter, Benjamin, Emma, Hagan and Elsa. Also surviving are sisters and brothers; Margaret (Charles) Deadman, Nancy Labonte, Barbara (Robert) Artega, Terri (Larry) Lautner, Dorothy (Pete) Grant, Joseph Fleis, Patricia Fleis, Dan Fleis, Mary (Daniel) Snyder, and Rose (Richard) Johnson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his father; Thomas Fleis, two brothers; Thomas Fleis, and John Fleis, and a brother-in-law, Sam Labonte.

Friends are welcome visit with Steve's family on Friday, February 3, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan, 49684.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 6982 S. Schomberg Rd. Cedar, MI 49621. Rev. Fr. Donald Libby will officiate.
