Stewart "Stew" Grant, 75, of Traverse City, passed away October 31, 2021.
He was born in Saginaw, MI to the late George and Mary (Chisholm) Grant on February 17, 1946.
Stew worked for many years in maintenance and retired from Sara Lee Bakery. Stew additionally worked in the cherry industry at various locations throughout Traverse City area- although some call it work, for him it was being outside and was really more of a passion. Stew could make anything, literally, and turn it into something. A treasure crafted from an awkward looking tree limb, a piece of metal would become a piece of yard art with some "Stew flare" or just the simple yet methodical way that he planted his flowers. Everything was done with passion and with love.
He loved the outdoors and spent countless time in the Houghton-Hancock area as well as Ontonagon, MI.
Stew honorably served his country in The Marine Corps.
Stew is survived and missed dearly by his wife of 40 years Linda, his son Ian (Holly), grandchildren; Logan, Katie and Zane, niece Heather Lee (Ron), nephews Sherman, Jake and Zack, brother-in-law Walt (Karen) Babcock and The David Buchler Family as well as his four legged companions, Peanut and Tony.
He is preceded in death by his siblings and parents.
The family will be gathering in July of 2022 to celebrate and honor Stew, just as he wished.
Stew and his family are being cared for by the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
