Sue Carol Roberts, 81, of Traverse City and formerly Chicago, passed away un expectedly Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her home in Traverse City.

Sue was born on June 3, 1931 to the late Lloyd and Sarah "Alice" (Banks) Staley in Plymouth, Indiana.

Sue entered into marriage with Paul Roberts on may 26, 1957 also in Plymouth, IN. She spent early years in Indiana and eventually Illinois. After vacationing many summers to the Grand Traverse region the the couple made the move to Traverse City. Sue made her living working with Munson for many years within the speech and hearing department. Sue was instrumental in creating and leading some of the specialty clinics offered through the medical center. She was a tenacious reader and talented writer, even authoring articles that won her a large freezer and others that became published. Sue was faithful and an active part of Traverse Bay United Methodist Church and the former Asbury Methodist church. She volunteered her time and talents with the choir and many of the circles within the church. Sue had a passion for theater and dramatic arts helping out the Cherry County Playhouse and Old Towne Playhouse when and where she could. Sue even would lend her beautiful voice as part of the entertainment of the "Sweet Adeline's". Sue's proudest achievement was being a mother, taking a very involved and supportive role, a role that was only amplified by becoming a loving grandmother.

Sue is survived by a loving husband Paul Roberts of Traverse City, her daughter, Sarah Schaub and her son, Mark (Sandi) Roberts, five grandchildren, Joshua,Jordan, Brittany, Brandon, Ashley, three great granchildren with another expected in January and many other loving family members and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by parents and a sister, Johanna Phillips.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jane Lippert officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the service.

Grave-side committal services will be held in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
