Obituary

Susan Mae Stuart, affectionately known as Sue, age 71, of Grawn, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025. She was born on August 17, 1954 in Traverse City, Michigan to Kenneth & Betty Hubbell. She grew up in Bates, Michigan and graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1972. Sue will be deeply missed by her entire family and all who knew her.

Sue enjoyed a long career in the hospitality industry, including restaurants Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, Waterfront Inn and the Pinestead Reef. Over the past 25 years, during the summer, she was also a cleaning professional for the Neahtawanta community on Old Mission Peninsula. She developed many wonderful long-term cherished friendships over both her careers.

She loved to cook and bake, much to her family's delight. Sue had an artistic flare with food and it was beautifully shown in the meals she prepared. She was an avid rock collector and a talented gardener with an amazing green thumb.

Sue had a gigantic heart of gold and she always had a couple dogs and cats around her house that she had rescued. The dogs and cats were her "kids" and she loved them dearly and spoiled them just a little.

Sue is survived by her sister, Linda Hubbell; brothers, Michael (Cynthia) Hubbell and William Hubbell; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews; and pets Neno and Willy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Stuart; her parents Kenneth & Betty Hubbell; her sister, Janice Hockin; her brother-in-law, Larry Hockin; and nephew, Nathan Hubbell.

A private Celebration of Life Service will be held.

Memorial contributions in Susan's name can be made to either the Disabled American Veterans or the Cherryland Humane Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
