Sue was born on June 13, 1960, in Wisconsin to Andy Fleckenstein and Rita Stevens. She passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Marquette University and an MBA in International Business from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. She was an entrepreneur, founding her own business in adhesive-coated plastics.
Sue was a consummate sailor, having sailed on every ocean. This passion she shared with Cornelius "Cork" Eringaard, whom she married in 1995. They enjoyed many sailing adventures along the Atlantic coast, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean. Together, they adopted Chinese twins, Sarah and Emily. While raising their daughters in Michigan, they continued to travel to many different places around the world.
Sue was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Mark Fleckenstein, and stepdaughter, Leslie (Mark) Poleo. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Jay) Scott; brother, John (Jodi) Fleckenstein; and her nieces and nephews, as well as Cork's daughter, Kimberly (John) Crosby. The family will celebrate her life privately.
Sue will be missed dearly by her loved ones, but she will always be remembered for her generosity. She made charitable contributions to many individuals, colleges, and women's groups. Memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to the Jack Leishman Engineering Technology Fund at Northwestern Michigan College.
