CEDAR - Suzanne "Sue" Kelly, of Cedar, formerly of Grosse Pointe, passed
away peacefully surrounded by her children and longtime companion, Stan
Mulliner, Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Munson Hospice House, after a brief
battle with cancer. Sue was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Detroit, daughter of
Jewel (Horter) and Marvin Edward Heidt.
She graduated from Mumford High School in Detroit and earned a degree as an
x-ray technician.
Later, she worked as a pharmacy tech in Traverse City, Glen Arbor and
Springhill, Fla.
Sue was best known for her warm acknowledgement of all those she came in
contact with by her willingness to organize benefits and send cards for all
occasions.
She is survived by her children, Earl Dalton Black III, Kimberly Ann Black,
Jeffrey Edward Black (Stephanie), and Kerri Sue Kelly; grandchildren, Jon
(Krissy), Nicole, Leslie, Michelle, Ryan, Morgan-Paige, Meredith and Andrew;
four great-grandchildren; her longtime companion, Stan Mulliner and his
children and grandchildren; and her sister, Judy Balcoff-Derby and her three
children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Jewel.
There will be a celebration of Sue's life on Monday, July 5, at her son's,
Jeff Black (Stephanie), residence, 6100 W. Beeman Road, Empire, MI at 2 p.m.
Sue's family would like to express gratitude to the Fourth Floor Oncology
staff of Munson Medical Center and Munson Hospice House for the
compassionate care they extended to Sue and family during her last days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be directed to Munson Hospice House,
Traverse City, in memory of Sue.
