LAKE LEELANAU — Suzanne Evona Plamondon, 95, a lifelong resident of Leelanau County, passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Munson Hospice House. Suzanne was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Empire to the late Charles and Louise (Steyaert) Taghon. In 1934, Suzanne entered into marriage with Ralph "Dick" Plamondon, of Lake Leelanau. Suzanne taught sewing through the 4-H program in Lake Leelanau for many years. She also loved to quilt, and opened her home to numerous young ladies of her parish and community and instructed them in the art of quilt making. Suzanne was also a wonderful friend to St. Mary School, and was proud that all of her children and many of her grandchildren graduated from St. Mary.Suzanne is survived by her eight children, Shirley Ann Tanguay, Fred Plamondon, Suzanne Larson, Sandra (Tom) Redlon, Richard (Suzanne) Plamondon, Sara Smith, Ron (Gwen) Plamondon and Steve (Bonnie) Plamondon; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Celeste, Sara, Art and Fred. Visitation for friends and family will be held today, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial led by Father Michael Janowski will take place on Thursday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. followed by graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Leelanau.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of Suzanne may be directed to St. Mary Catholic School or to Munson Hospice House.
