Svea Ruth Nepote Liljestrand, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Svea was born on October 20, 1947 in Chicago, IL to Sven and Barbara (Mills) Liljestrand. She was married to Paul James Nepote in 1972. Svea had been employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1999 after 32 years of service. Before moving back to Michigan Svea was an airline stewardess for Trans Texas Air. Most recently she had been employed as a switch board operator for Munson Hospital. She was a very active member of Maple City Community Church where she played the organ and made the church bulletins. Svea had a love for all animals and had many pets over the years.
Svea is survived by her two sons; Chris Nepote and Michael Nepote, her Mother Barbara Liljestrand, two step-sons; Jim Shems and John Paul Nepote. Also surviving are two brothers and three sisters; Tim (Jeanne) Liljestrand, Jonathan (Pam) Liljestrand, Maryteja Liljestrand, Beth Hardy and Linnea (Steve) Johnson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Svea was preceded in death by her father, Sven Liljestrand.
A funeral service honoring Svea will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Maple City Community Church, 89 W. Church St., Maple City, MI 49664, with visiting one hour prior. Pastor Tom Tobin will officiate.
