Tana Lee (Skiver) Halvorsen, age 74, of Acme/Williamsburg, Michigan, was called home to our Lord and savior on Thursday May 2nd, 2024.
Tana was born on January 19, 1950, to Forest and Elaine (Lautner) Skiver. Tana was the second oldest of the four Skiver girls. Her parents owned S & S Grocery that was located near the corner of M-72 and 31N, in Acme. Tana had fond memories of helping in her parents' grocery store when she was a child.
Tana was married to Triston E. Halvorsen on May 6, 1972; they were married for 52 years. When diagnosed with Cancer, Tana had two goals, one was to make it to their 50th wedding anniversary, and two, she wanted to be able to watch her grandson grow up! She was so grateful to have accomplished both goals.
Tana worked as the Chief Deputy County Treasurer in Grand Traverse County for over 30 years. There she met some life-long friends, known as the "Courthouse Bunch." These friends have been some of her dearest confidantes over the years and they are all still remarkably close with the family today.
Tana was often sought out by family members for her wise counsel and guidance in life. Especially when it came to finances and budgeting, she was our budget guru! She also had an absolute love for baking! But Tana will mostly be remembered as a loving, caring and giving person who put others before herself. She touched the lives of all who knew her and we will all miss her greatly!
She is survived by her husband, Triston Halvorsen, her son Scott Halvorsen and his wife Heather, their son and her only grandchild- Ethan. And by her other son, Mark Halvorsen. She is also survived by her sisters Terry Timmermans, Janet Porter, and Janell Salisbury, her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Forest and Elaine Skiver, her brother-in-law's, Larry Porter and Joseph Salisbury, her niece Michelle Nemetz, her niece Debbie's husband Scott Talquist, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home . Funeral services will be held at 4pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024 with a visitation held from 3-4pm also at the Funeral Home. Pastor Ken Blair of Long Lake Friends Church will be officiating.
