Teresa Joyce Pickard

Teresa Joyce Pickard, 66, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.

Teresa Joyce Bishop was born on June 17, 1953 in Eaton Rapids to Chester and Phyllis Bishop (née Coger), the second oldest of five children. She was raised in Traverse City and graduated from Traverse City High School and later Davenport University. Teresa began working at Munson Hospital in 1977 and retired from there in 2018. At Munson, she wrote policy and procedure, assessed risk management, and managed the logistics department.

Outside of work, Teresa's devotion to family and friends was of utmost importance. She was always available in their time of need. Teresa enjoyed traveling and did it often to such places as St. Martin, Caribbean Islands, and the Virgin Islands. Alongside these travels Teresa was an avid diver and involved with Scuba North. Her diving experiences included underwater pumpkin carvings, Easter egg hunts, exploration of sunken ships, and coral reefs. She will be remembered for her respect for rules and determination to do things her own way.

Teresa is forever loved by her daughters Tammi (Noel Blanchard) Pickard and Tanya (Floyd) Mitz; Granny to grandchildren: Sarah (Gregory) Hansen, Alcia (José) Colón, Michael Mitz, Andrea (Lance) Emig, and seven great-grandchildren; sisters Lindsey (Robert) Geiger, Kelly (Phil) Baumann, Robyn (Bishop) and brother Brian (Nancy) Bishop; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews, and her inseparable four legged companion Tinkerbell.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents Chet and Phyllis, nephew Rob Geiger, and dog Dusty.

The family will welcome friends at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 5 - 7 p.m. Funeral services to celebrate Teresa's life will follow at the funeral home on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11 a.m. with additional visitation one-hour prior.
