Traverse City - Teri Lynn Coon, 57, of Mayfield passed away January 15, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Teri was born on August 21, 1959 in Lansing to the late Kermit Lee and MaryJane (Russell) Coon.
Teri was self employed. Together with her partner Judy, she cared for individuals with special needs. Teri was a member of the Cherokee Nation. She was very proud of her heritage and enjoyed attending the Cherokee National Holiday in Tahlequah, OK. She enjoyed camping, spending time in the great outdoors and riding her Harleys. She loved visiting the cabin in the UP and cherished her dogs Millie, Daisy, Lacey and all animals and critters. Teri also enjoyed going for rides in her golf buggy around the woods on her property. She had a deep faith and attended the Grawn United Methodist Church. She was also a volunteer for Safe Harbor. Teri will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Teri is survived by her partner Judy Helton, brother Gene Coon, special friend Kathy Anslow, her beloved "Keeper" Braden, Uncle Bob and Aunt Cici, and many other cousins and friends.
Teri was preceded in death by her mother MaryJane (Dwayne) Case and father Kermit Coon.
The funeral service celebrating Teri's life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 12 Noon.
In leiu of fresh flowers, kindly consider planting a tree in memory of Teri or consider a memorial donation to the Cherryland Humane Society or to the Cherokee Heritage Center in Tahlequah, OK.
