Terrance "Terry" Lee Carpenter, 80, of Traverse City, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born on January 29, 1935 in Grand Rapids to the late Arthur and Margarite (Jordan) Carpenter. He married Dorothy Jean Peters on September 17, 1960 and preceded him in death in 2006. He married Eva "Kay" King on October 4, 2008 in Traverse City.
Honorably Terry served our country in the United States Army. He worked for the Oven Fresh Bakery as a driver and salesman for many years and retired in 1995. Terry was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Prime Timers, Kiwanis, and was a volunteer fireman for 30 years. In his spare time Terry enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading and collecting coins, die cast cars and trucks. Most importantly Terry was a family man. He was a wonderful husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Terry is his wife Kay, children, Dale Carpenter, Cynthia (Mike) Pollard, Brian (Robin) Carpenter, Stewart (Colleen) Carpenter, David (Ulrike) Carpenter, Jeffery (Danica) Carpenter, step-children, Kevin (Debra) Giddis, Mark (Lori) Giddis, Tammy (Scott) Huffman, siblings, Richard (Ann Rhody) Carpenter, Beverly (Bob) Schwenter, Sharon (Richard) Hill, Robert (Linda) Carpenter, multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Dorothy Carpenter, and a brother Ed Carpenter.
