Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Thelma E. Seabrook, 95, a lifelong resident of Traverse City, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Boardman Lake Glens Assisted Living of Traverse City. Thelma was born June 14, 1916, to the late Lennie and Nova Beardsley.Thelma spent her childhood years at the family home on West Front Street, where she met many of those who would become her lifelong friends. She graduated from Traverse City High School in 1934. Thelma attended beautician school in Detroit and later worked as a beautician in the Traverse City area. Thelma married Edward Seabrook on March 21, 1946, in New York; they were devoted to one another for 65 years. They made their home on East Bay and together raised two children, Lynn (Peter) Bossardet, of Centralia, Ill., and David Seabrook, of Traverse City, who survive. Thelma enjoyed playing the organ, spending summers at her cottage on Long Lake and traveling.Visitation will take place on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Cremation will take place; burial of remains will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to thank the First Congregational Church, where Thelma was a member, special friends, Ruby and Dick Howard, Bill and Bonnie King, a special niece, Michelle and nephew, Rusty. The family also wishes to thank the staff at the Boardman Lake Glens Assisted Living Facility for their wonderful care. Thelma will be deeply missed by many friends and her family.
