Theodoro "Ted" Edward Casasanta, 93, of Williamsburg, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024.
Ted was born on November 18, 1930, to Antonio and Laurina Casasanta in Pacentro, Italy. He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones. Proud of everyone who touched his life, Ted made it a point to value and nurture those relationships.
He had a deep love for his family and his proud traditions. He possessed a strong connection with his community and his friends. Afternoons were often spent with friends at the Senior Lunch Hall, where he engaged in laughter and camaraderie.
After immigrating from Italy at the age of 20, he worked as a Supervisor for Chrysler, where he built lasting friendships and made a significant impact in the workforce. He also brought the love of farming on the mountains of Italy to the US. where he continued to work the land with a Christmas Tree Farm and business for over 50 years. He found great joy in the tranquility of gardening and being outdoors, finding joy in long walks and listening to the sounds of nature.
A storyteller at heart, Ted loved spending time with family and friends, and attending social gatherings where he would share tales of his childhood, reflecting his passion for tradition and his deep sense of family. To him, everyone was treated like family.
Ted found joy in keeping alive his old country traditions such as making his own wine, making prosciutto, and passing on old family recipes.
Ted met the love of his life, the late Theresa (Avolio) Casasanta, and they began building their lives together.
Ted is survived by his loving children, Louise Nemirov (Steve), Tedi Casasanta, and Anthony Casasanta (D. Mary). His brother Fernando Casasanta. His adoring grandchildren, Alexander (Rumi), Kelsey Sippola (John), Danyela Hickey and Tessa Casasanta. And great grandchildren, Tallula, Chandler, Isla, and Vida. And to his joy another on the way.
