Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Theresa Joanne "Terry" Fifarek, 74, of Traverse City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.Terry was born Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1936, to the late Boleslaus "Bill" and Joanne (Popa) Rosinski in Cedar. Following her graduation from Holy Rosary High School in 1954, Terry earned her certificate in business from Davenport School of Business in Grand Rapids.For over 30 years, Terry was the office administrator for Bergen-Brunswick Drug Corporation. Following her employment there, she was a recruiter for over 10 years for the Michigan Community Blood Center, which she thoroughly enjoyed and where she made many friends.Terry was an avid bowler, having participated in the sport beginning in high school and enjoyed up until her illness prevented her from participating. She was the 2004 inductee into the Traverse City Bowling Hall of Fame and for many years has been a member of the WIBC, and served as a state representative of that organization.She enjoyed being a member of a BUNCO league and Internationally Yours. She loved to knit, crochet and visit the casino.Terry is remembered by her family as being very generous and charitable, and knew that they were truly her passion and the loves of her life.Terry married Gerald "Jerry" Fifarek on Oct. 19, 1963, and he survives, as do her children, Jerilyn and Tom Blake, of Grawn, Tony and Kelley Fifarek, of Traverse City; and her beloved grandchildren, Jenna, Josie, Abigail, Emma, Tommy and Gabriel. Also surviving are her siblings, Gordon (Sylvia) Rosinski, of Traverse City, Albin (Sue) Rosinski, of Cedar, Georgette "Cheech" Jefferson, of Traverse City, and George Rosinski, of Cedar; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will take place Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with a wake service at 7 p.m. led by Deacon Rene Hoenscheid.The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Thursday, Nov. 18, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. William Lipscomb presiding.
