Thomas Joseph Atwell, 75 of Traverse City passed away August 8, 2015 at Southridge Assisted Living in Traverse City.
Thomas was born on July 19, 1940 in Pontiac. Preceding him in death were his parents Pauline and Joseph Atwell.
He graduated from Pontiac High School in 1958. He completed The Apprentice School at Pontiac Motor Division where he was a Journeyman Electrician. He had a disability retirement in the 1970's. He moved to Traverse City in 2007 to be near his sister.
His passion was bowling, and his high game was a 225. He enjoyed playing Euchre, riding his motorcycles and had a great interest in the 1950 automobiles. He enjoyed playing his music and had an extensive collection of 45 and 33 1/3 rpm records, CD's and cassettes. He learned about reel to reel tapes from an uncle and enjoyed recording and playing mostly rock and roll music from his era. Up until his death, he enjoyed telling all kinds of trivia, from comedians to his knowledge of cars.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Mark (Sherry) Atwell, Gary (Theresa) Atwell, his grandchildren Ashton, Tylar and Emma Atwell all of Dallas, TX and his sister Barbara (John) Peters of Traverse City. He will also be missed by his special friend Bonnie Spears of Auburn Hills.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at South Ridge Assisted Living in Traverse City. Burial will be White Chapel Cemetery in Troy next to his parents.
