Thomas "Tom" Edward Largent Sr., 80 of Traverse City, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at his home with his loving family at his side after a 2 year battle with cancer.
Tom was born in Cadillac, MI on February 3, 1934 to the late Alfred and Cecilia (Long) Largent. He married Ruth Weber on April 23, 1955 in Traverse City at St. Francis Catholic Church. Together they lovingly raised 6 wonderful children.
Tom worked for Pepsi Co in the Frito Lay division for 25 years. After his retirement he learned to fly at the Northwestern Michigan College Aviation Program. He especially enjoyed flying to the Oshkosh and volunteering for many years at Oshkosh Airshow. When he was not flying he liked spending time with his family. Tom was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Tom is his wife Ruth of almost 60 dedicated years, children, Carol Hiner, Karon Largent, Cathy (Bill) Brakel, Tom Jr., Patty Largent, and Sandy Lemcool, grandchildren, Daniel, Justin, Christine, Tim (Amanda), Ben, Steven, Bill Jr, and Christopher, siblings, Bud (Caroline) Largent, Theresa (Jerry) Kuhlman, Joan Thayer, Barb (Jerry) Brief, and Janet Blake.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Bert Smith, and his brother Jim Largent.
Per Tom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
