Thomas David Filip, age 74, of Interlochen, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Thomas was born on February 5, 1949 in Jackson, Michigan to Hypolit and Florence Filip.
Thomas was the kindest of men and enjoyed all walks of life. He would wake up early to not miss a minute of the day, starting out with a cup of coffee and a daunting crossword puzzle was the norm while listening to current events on the news channel. On weekends or vacation, Thomas was always surrounded with friends and family as he was a true host and his priority was for everyone to have a great time while creating lasting memories for all. Thomas most enjoyed being at the lake, Green Lake, specifically, as he developed a passionate bond from an early age that only strengthened throughout his life and became infectious to those around him. He would not miss a chance to view a sunset from the beach at Green Lake, often citing they were the most beautiful in the world. Thomas also enjoyed sporting events, primarily football, supporting the Michigan State Spartans and Green Bay Packers.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise Filip, of 14 years, his son Justin, stepsons Lloyd and William, four granddaughters, two grandsons, two great granddaughters, and three great grandsons.
