Traverse City – Thomas Jaroma, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home on November 11, 2015.
Tom was born on November 12, 1950 to the late Henry and Rita (Kaminski) Jaroma in Roseville, MI. He graduated from Roseville High School. He attended Macomb Community College and graduated from Eastern Michigan University where he earned a teaching degree in industrial arts.
Tom moved to Traverse City in 1975 and met Carlene "Carrie" Johnston that following January while attending a dance at the Shadowland. It was love at first sight and the two were inseparable. They were married on June 19, 1982 at the All Faith's Chapel in Traverse City by Father Fred.
Tom enjoyed listening to music, especially jazz, country and the blues. He as an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching Nascar. Tom's favorite thing to do was take sightseeing trips in and around Leelanau County. He loved exploring while two-tracking and his favorite place was Good Harbor Beach. It was on one the sightseeing trips where he found Kasey, his beloved Doberman. Over the years Tom had 4 Doberman's; Barron, Greystoke, Quest and Kasey.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rita Jaroma.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carrie of 33 years; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 11 am, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Deacon Douglas Wigton will officiate the service. Cremation will take place following the service.
