Cedar - Thomas H. Kulanda, 82, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Nov. 20, 2021, at Munson Medical Center with his family by his side.
Tom was born on June 1, 1939, to Thomas and Marie (Lindtner) Kulanda. On Dec. 1, 1962, Tom and Lorraine (Stachnik) exchanged wedding vows at the Holy Rosary Church, Cedar. They resided in Traverse City until they built their forever home on Lime Lake in Cedar in 1977.
Tom spent his working career in the construction trades. He was co-owner of Holcombe Masonry in Traverse City for over 20 years. In 1989, Tom along with his son, Brian, launched their own construction company, Lime Lake Construction. They worked side by side building new homes, remodeling, and mason work.
Anyone who knew Tom also knew how much he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was always the first to volunteer to watch the kids when needed, take them to and from their sporting events, and thoroughly enjoyed teaching them how to hunt, fish, and garden. He was so proud of his grandkids!
Tom will also be remembered by family, friends, and the surrounding community when he would play the bones at polish events on stage along with the polka band.
Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Marie Kulanda, and his sister Carolyn Ralston.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine. His son Brian, and daughters Renee (Tom) Hobbins, Michelle (Joe) Prieskorn, his six grandchildren; Paul, Kyle, Melanie, Cody, Arden, and Marie. He is also survived by his brother Jim (Sue) Kulanda.
