It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our son. Thomas was born November 22, 1993 and passed away unexpectedly at home, May 6, 2022. He was 28 years old.
Thomas was the only child of Terry and Kris (Mattison) Bevelhymer, of Interlochen, both who survive him.
Thomas was a bright and adventurous young man. He loved to fish, bike and camp and practice his survivalist skills. He also enjoyed geocaching with his dad. He was an avid gamer, even building his own computers.
He graduated with honors from Benzie Central, class of 2012. In school, Thomas took any science or math related course possible. He had a natural sense with numerical and engineering principles. This served him well in his jobs at UET, Cone Drive, Sara Lee and most recently at Materne (Go-Go Squeeze). Thomas was also skilled on CNC and lathe work, which many consider a lost art. He loved to tinker, and could take apart and reassemble anything he could get his hands on.
He survived by grandfather Eugene Bevelhymer; grandmothers Sharon Oxley and Natalie Miller, all of Traverse City; aunts and uncles Scott (Vickie) Bevelhymer of Grawn, Kate (Eric) Gustavson of Virginia and Ellyn (Terry) Steinbeck of Alabama and Jim (Kimberly) Mattison of N. Carolina; as well as several cousins, extended family members and friends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his grandfather, John A. Mattison and uncle Arthur J. Mattison.
Thomas will be laid to rest in the Inland Township Cemetery, at a private graveside service. On Wednesday, May 25, 3:00 PM, we will gather to celebrate Thomas' life at the Interlochen Eagles Pavilion.
We are broken-hearted from this loss and kindly ask that in lieu of flowers you may consider making a contribution to Third Level Crisis Center, or to any community-based suicide prevention organization of your choosing.
