Tom, a life long resident of Grand Traverse County, passed away on June 8, 2018 at age 92.
Tom was born on the family farm on February 6, 1926 to Charles and Gertrude (Foster) Mikula. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Aeschliman on March 24, 1945.
Tom was a self employed furnace repairman for several years along with owning and operating a fruit farm with Dorothy. In his early years, Tom worked for Tri-Gas, Parsons Corporation and Sampson Heating.
Tom had many interests and enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, traveling in their motor home, polka dancing, growing flowers (especially roses), talking to people and attending family gatherings. Family and friends were very important to Tom. Tom was always there when family and friends needed help. He could fix anything.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene Mikula, sisters; Zella West, Jessie Halstead and Georgia Buller.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 73 years, sons; Jim (Marilyn), Frank (Kathy), Dick (Gretchen) and Jerry (Nancy), daughter Marilyn Mikula, as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A visitation will take place Friday June 15, 2018 from 5-8 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place Saturday June 16, 2018 at 2:00pm with visitation from 1:30-2:00pm also at the funeral home. Tom's final resting place will be Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
