Thomas Charles (Nic) Nicolini, age 81, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, MI.
Tom was born on July 13, 1942, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Marion and Irma (Lapeer) Nicolini. He honorably served two terms in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. Tom used the opportunity to spend leave time traveling the world. During his service, he found a second home in Germany, living with a special army mum. After his discharge from the Army, Tom continued to travel the world. Tom also shared his passion for communication by teaching public speaking at Northern Michigan University, where he inspired countless students with his eloquence.
Despite facing the challenges of dementia, Tom's adventurous spirit never wavered. He continued to explore the world he loved, through reading and pictures. His resilience and determination were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Tom is survived by his cherished friends that he loved like family, David and Lynn Basler and family and several other special friends.
He will be laid to rest alongside his beloved Goddaughter, Annette Basler, at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery.
In honoring Tom's memory, let us remember his love for adventure, his dedication to teaching, and the enduring kindness he showed to others. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
