Empire - Thomas James O'Brien, 60, of Empire passed away March 10, 2015, at Munson Medical Center.

Thomas was born on September 27, 1954, in Traverse City to Harold Frederick and Helen Ann (Couturier) O'Brien.

Tom graduated from Glen Lake High School in 1972. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, playing softball and listening to music. He also cherished his 2006 Red Mustang. Tom was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his parents Harold and Helen, siblings, Fred (Sharon) O'Brien, Tim (Rhonda) O'Brien, Colleen (Dennis) King, Julie (Robert) Brott, Robert (Jill) O'Brien, 10 nieces and nephews and one great niece.

Tom was preceded in death by infant brother Roy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip Catholic Church in Empire on Friday, March 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning one hour prior. Graveside services take place at St. Philip Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions in memory of Tom may be directed to Mass Intentions or Munson Hospice.
