TRAVERSE CITY — Thomas Matthew "Tim" Houck, 60, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at his home.Tim was born Aug. 1, 1950, in Elbert, W. Va., to Robert and Mary (Clair) "Tootsie" Houck, who preceded him in death.He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Sharon. He also leaves two sons, Donald (Jesse) Phillips and Michael Maynard; two beautiful grandchildren, Halle and Marshal Phillips; a brother, Doug; sisters, Dora (Kevin) Kelsey and Cheryl (James) Faircloth; in-laws, Leonard (Cindy) Delikta, James Delikta, Carl Delikta, Donna (John) Klarr, Beverly (Stan) Pirozek; numerous nieces and nephews, including a very special nephew and niece, Peter (Trista) Tacconelli and Kristin Tacconelli; great-nieces and -nephews; and too many friends to count.Tim was a member of the Eagles, an avid fisherman, and great story teller. There was always a story or joke to be told, but one thing that Tim always said was "keep your top drawer full of smiles and put them in your pocket when you go out. Spread them around and you will never be without a smile!"After moving to Houghton Lake, Tim worked for his sister, Dora, at the Back Door Saloon. He moved to Traverse City and worked maintenance for McDonald's and Burger King for many years. He was a jack of all trades. After the good fight of nine years, Tim has gone with the angels to meet his maker.Visitation will take place Thursday, Sept. 9, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, also at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.Please share your special memories of Tim with his family by way of his online guestbook found at
