Timothy "Tim" C. Shaffer, 74, of Whitewater Township, passed away Sept. 10, 2022. He was born in Dayton, Ohio, Feb. 6, 1948, son to Carol Doris (Nelson) and David George Shaffer.
His parents moved to Traverse City when he was two years old. Tim graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1968, and NMC in 1970 with an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. He spent a year at Ferris State College in the same program.
Tim married Rosile Lannin on Aug. 18, 1972 in Traverse City, officiated by Dr. Howard Towne. After marriage, they moved to Williamsburg. Tim joined the Whitewater Township Fire Department as a volunteer, later becoming an EMT with the department. He retired from his position there in 2014.
He became a member of New Hope Community Church in 1990, and served as an usher until his health made him stop.
Tim worked for several different businesses in the area, including, Grand Traverse Auto, BATA, Williamsburg Recovery Center, Boride Manufacturing, NMC College, Primerica Insurance Company, Amway Corporation, New Hope Community Church, and more.
He was a Boy Scout as a teen, a member of Michigan Trail Riders Association, Whitewater Emergency Services Auxiliary, Grand Traverse 4-H Shooting Sports, and a member of the 4-H Leader's Advisory Board.
He was the type of guy who would stop at nearly any vehicle pulled over to make sure they were ok, and to see if they needed help.
Tim leaves behind his wife, Rosile; children Todd (Karen), Bill, and Adam (Brooke); grandchildren Kelli, Keagen, Sayier, Lexy and Dannielle; great-grandchildren Madison, Wyntir, Raevyn and Hudson; brother Bob "Doc" (Beverly) Shaffer; as well as other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service honoring Tim's life will take place Saturday, September 17th, 11:00 AM, at New Hope Community Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service.
