Verna Irene Hamilton

TRAVERSE CITY – Verna I. Hamilton, age 90, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2018 at the Munson Medical Center in the loving care of her family.
Verna was born to Clarence and Francis Lewis on June 13, 1928 in Traverse City. She grew up in Traverse City where she graduated from Central High School. Shortly after graduation Verna married her high school sweet heart, Dale Lawrence Hamilton on May 27, 1949. Verna worked as a trust officer at Traverse City State Bank where she ultimately retired from.
Verna was an avid reader, loved needlework, and enjoyed watching Detroit Tigers baseball. Every Tuesday afternoon, Verna and Dale enjoyed spending time at the casino. Verna was as independent as anyone, even up until her final days. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family.
Verna is survived by her sons; Michael (Lorraine) Hamilton, Kingsley, and Donald Hamilton, Traverse City, grandchildren; Jason (Melanie) Hamilton, Bryan Hamilton, Jennifer Symons, Christopher Hamilton, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister, Shirley.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Scott Hamilton, great-grandson, Brennan Hamilton, and her siblings; Marian, Joyce, Norma, Merlin, and Gordon.
Honoring Verna's request, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest next to her husband Dale Hamilton at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
