Vickie Kay (Mitchell) Deo, 66 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends at Trinity Hospital on July 5, 2023.
Vickie was born September 5, 1956 in Highland Park to the late Willard J. Mitchell and Vernetta J. (Bates) Mitchell. She married her loving husband Steven R. Deo September 14, 1974 at Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City, MI.
Vickie was a graduate of Kingsley Area High School and attended University of Michigan, using her sharp mind to pursue a business degree. She made great use of her love of jewelry in her lengthy career in retail jewelry management. Vickie, or affectionately called Katie by friends and family, loved to compete in ballroom dancing and softball. She had a motto to never visit the same place twice resulting in many adventures, including horseback riding on the beach and parasailing. Vickie found great joy and laughter with her family, and she will be dearly missed. Vickie touched many lives with her vivacity and wit; and found friends throughout the world.
She is survived by husband Steven R Deo; daughter, Shana R. Deo, son, Michael R. (Ashley) Deo and grandchildren Griffin O. Deo and Vivian K. Deo; brothers Willard J. Mitchell Jr., Steven D Mitchell; sisters Marie A. Warner and Collene L. (Tom) Eller; sister in laws Christine (Gary) Reamer; Susan (Stephen) Saxton; Glenda (Alger) Fraleigh; and Deanna (Ken) Peterman and many beloved nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joan and Willard Mitchell; sister Alice McAllister; and mother and father in laws, Boneita and Richard Deo Jr.
A celebration of life Memorial will be held at Reynolds- Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, MI. on September 16, 2023 at 11:00 am. Visitation to begin at 10:00 am.
