TRAVERSE CITY — Victoria M. "Vicki" Anderson, 59, of Traverse City, died Wednesday morning, March 30, 2011, at Munson Medical Center, following a sudden illness.Born Dec. 6, 1951, in Traverse City, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Chippewa and Dorothy L. Mashka Harp. On April 11, 1970, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mapleton, she married Thomas Jerome Anderson.Vicki was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Sunday afternoons were a very special time for Vicki at the Eagles Club, interacting with the "Golden Girls," sharing snacks, engaging in football pools and frequent chances at gambling.She enjoyed cooking, especially Indian Fry Bread, which many have relished throughout the years. Gardening was her passion, as anyone could see by her showcase gardens. We can't forget her interest in shopping, which she did frequently with and for her grandchildren. Vicki also loved spending time with her dog, a black lab named Malayla.Vicki will be fondly remembered as a very giving person who liked to share her time and talents with others. Her greatest thrill was the quality time she spent with her adoring grandchildren.She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Thomas J. "Tom" Anderson of Traverse City; children, Joanne (Scott) Winowiecki, of Traverse City, Lisa (Joe) Cox, of Keego Harbor, Eddie Anderson, of Traverse City, and Tom Anderson, of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Craig, Kellen, Patrick, Isabel and Thomas; siblings, Joyce Ashmore, Rich (Mary) Harp and Ron (Debbie) Harp, all of Traverse City; along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends, including her special friend, Kathy Scott.She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Craig and her brother-in-law Roger Ashmore.Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today, April 4, with visitation one hour prior at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rev. Theresa Gardner will officiate.
