TRAVERSE CITY — Victoria Lee Miller, 59, of Traverse City, died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the home of her sister, surrounded by those she loved.Victoria was born on Saturday, Oct. 20, 1951, in Lakeview, to Don R. and Delores D. (Denbow) Halvorsen. She graduated from Morley Stanwood High School in 1969. Victoria was a very talented artist. Her love of art led her to expressing her artistry in handcrafted jewelry. She also loved kayaking and being near the water and beach. She treasured her membership and her friends in the Grand Traverse Area Rock and Mineral Club and the Art Center of Traverse City.Victoria's hope was that her legacy would be one of being remembered as an artist, creative and funny, but most of all, as being a good and loyal friend.She is survived by her father, Don Halvorsen, of Lake City; her sister, Elaine and her husband, Bill Richardson, of Cadillac; her brother, Don "Herb" and his wife, Melodie Halvorsen, of Bristol, Ind.; her niece, Kristi (John) Flietstra, of Jenison; and her nephews, Don Thomas Halvorsen and Alexander Halvorsen, both of Bristol, Ind. Victoria is also survived by her cousins, Harlan (Mandy) Halvorsen, of Bay City, and Jack Bickler, of Traverse City. Victoria was preceded in death by her mother, Delores; and her cousin, Marcie Bickler.A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, with Pastor Mike Stambaugh officiating.
