Vida Joan Ascione, 86, of Traverse City, passed away February 13, 2023.

She was born in Detroit, April 11, 1936, daughter to Silvestro and Cesarina "Jessie" (Pepponi) Silvestri.
Vida married the love of her life, Edward Ascione, on January 19, 1957, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Detroit. In 1966, the couple moved to Kalkaska, purchased a business and raised their family.

Vida embodied the Italian mother and grandmother in every way. She was kind and nurturing to many, steadfast in her faith with a humble and generous spirit. There was always a home-cooked meal on the stove, and everyone was welcome. Nieces, nephews and family friends alike lovingly knew her as "Nonnie."

She was the matriarch of the family and ever proud of the legacy she left behind. Vida was the most amazing mother, grandmother, friend and community member, anyone could ever hope for.

Vida loved creating beautiful cross stitch, needle work and other crafts with her close friends.

We are all deeply saddened by the loss, but feel fortunate that she is at peace, watching over us with those who have gone before her.

Vida leaves behind her children Renee and Eddie Ascione; daughter-in-law Jeanne Ascione; grandchildren Anthony, Hallie, Emilie, Marina, Alex, in addition to beloved extended family members and friends.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; husband Edward Ascione; son Michael Ascione and sister Jackie Sinacola.

At her request, a private family service will be held.
