TRAVERSE CITY — Vincent L. Hansen, 88, of Buckley, died Sunday evening, Aug. 21, 2011, at Grand Traverse Pavilions.Born Oct. 15, 1922, in Mayfield Township, he was the son of the late Carl Jacob and Helen Rose (Logston) Hansen. On Dec. 15, 1973, in Traverse City, he married the former Marylea Stevens Crandall.Vincent worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Traverse City State Hospital for 38 dedicated years. He also worked as a self-employed building contractor.Vincent will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor.He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marylea Hansen, of Buckley; children, Janie Cesar, of Juneau, Alaska, Vincent "DJ" (Jeri) Hansen, of Key Largo, Fla., Janice (Fred Forst) Cooley, of Traverse City, Peter J. (Pamela) Hansen, of Buckley, Anthony L. Hansen, of Traverse City, and Timothy D. (Candy) Hansen, of Buckley; stepson, Gerald Crandall, of Buckley; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul (June) Hansen, of Traverse City, Bob (Doris) Hansen, of Kingsley, Lillian (Bill) Hartzell, of Three Rivers and Marilyn O'Neil, of Lansing; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, DJ Maki; stepson, Rodney Crandall; and siblings, Margaret Kolarik, Armond Hansen and Ted Hansen.Friends may call Wednesday evening, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Grant United Methodist Church, 10999 Zue Road, Grant Township. The Rev. Robert Stark will officiate.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grant United Methodist Church.
