Viola Eitniear

Viola V. Eitniear, 86, of Greilickville, passed away at MediLodge Nursing Home in Suttons Bay, on Friday March 2, 2018 after a battle with liver cancer. Viola was born on March 4, 1931 in Traverse City. She was employed at Bell Telephone and The Record Eagle newspaper. Viola enjoyed caring for her family, her pets and her plants and painting. On June 10, 1950 she married the love of her life, William John (Jack) Eitniear and resided in the home he built for the remainder of her life. She will be fondly remembered by all her surviving relatives.

Surviving Viola is a son, Jack (San Antonio, Texas), daughter-in laws Mary Eitniear (Jack), Karen Eitniear (Tom), son-in-law Donald Olsen (Virginia) and 6 grandchildren. Also, surviving her are brother James Goodrich (Jackson), stepbrother James Youmans (Battle Creek) and stepsisters Frances Orr, Marsha Burbank, Margaret Darknell, Patricia Dillinger (all from Ludington), Freda Cable (Florida), and Goldie Sabin.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gary H. Goodrich, in 1941, her mother, Jennie Margaret (Ayers) Youmans in 1993, her stepbrothers Donald, Arthur and Howard Youmans, and sisters June Rademacher, Ellen Herwarth and Dolores Miller. Also, preceding her in death were her beloved husband Jack, son Tom and daughter Virginia Olsen.

Graveside services will be conducted at Memorial Gardens (Traverse City) at a date to be announced. Donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
