TRAVERSE CITY — Violet Irene Manchester Davis, 93, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 14, 2012, surrounded by her family. Violet was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on July 11, 1918, the daughter of Estella (Burroughs) Sturtevant.Violet moved to Michigan in 2006 and made Traverse City her home. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends.Violet leaves her two daughters and their spouses, Betty A. and Paul Maciejewski, of Traverse City, and Barbara I.D. and Joseph H.E. Lemay, of Youngsville, N.C. Violet had four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, CMSgt. George Joseph Davis on June 6, 1992.Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church on Center Road.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the First Congregational Church's Jamaican orphanage mission would be appreciated in Violet's name.The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services; www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
