Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Virginia M. Armour, 94, of Traverse City, passed away Dec. 15, 2011, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Virginia was born on Dec. 16, 1916, in Tiftin, Ohio, to the late Claude and Mary (Stull) Miller. On Feb. 7, 1936, Virginia married Lyman Armour in Holt. He preceded her in death in 2005. After Virginia and Lyman married, he worked for Oldsmobile, which took him to all five of their plants across the country. They lived in Delaware, California, and finally retired in Traverse City in 1975.During the early years the family loved to go camping along the Manistee River. After Lyman retired they loved spending time in Florida and going on cruises. In addition to traveling around Florida, they both enjoyed going to visit their children. Virginia also loved going to the casino.In her spare time, Virginia enjoyed painting, sewing, hunting, morel mushroom hunting, dancing and entertaining with her marionette. Virginia is survived by her children, Jack (Bette) Armour, of Traverse City, Paul (Shirley) Armour, of Dadeville, Ala., Tom (Lex) Armour, of Buckley, and Judy (Larry) Soule, of Mason; nine grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stanley Miller; and sister, Naomi Nichols. A memorial service for Virginia will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 3:30 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
