Obituary

Virginia "Jean" E. Peterson, 87, longtime resident of Traverse City and formerly of Mancelona passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Cherry Hill Haven Nest in Traverse City.

Born, Virginia E. Peterson, on Friday, November 20, 1925 to the late James and Effie A. (Larson) Peterson in Lansing. Jean made her living as a medical secretary at Thirlby Clinic for over 40 years.

She was a member of Grawn United Methodist Church, and for many years volunteered her time at every opportunity. Jean loved to pass the time crocheting, working a crossword puzzle, or walking. Jean had many talents, one of which was writing poetry. She will be missed by the many lives she touched.

Jean is survived by her, sister-in-law, Kathryn Peterson of Grand Blanc, her very good friend, Carol Harrigan of Traverse City, niece Debra Peck and her family, nephew, Mark Peterson and his family and many other loving family members and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and Raymond Peterson.

Funeral services will take place at 11 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the services. The Rev. Mary S. Brown will officiate.

Grave-side committal services will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the Grawn United Methodist Church.
