Virginia L. Goodrick

Virginia Lucille Goodrick, 82 of Maple City passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Munson Medical Center. Virginia was born on May 25, 1934 in Traverse City to the late Albert and Anna (Fasel) Kreiser. She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1952. Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Goodrick on October 20, 1953. She was a cosmetologist and loved working with her sister at Dorothy's Beauty Shop. Virginia and her husband owned and operated Glenview Farms in Leelanau County for many years. She was very proud of her garden; growing many fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed canning and creating her legendary salsa. Her other interests were working puzzles and playing cards and games with family. Over the years she and Virgil traveled throughout the United States in their motorhome. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. Virginia was a beautiful person who lived her life with style and grace.

Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Virgil, three daughters and a son; Lesley Goodrick-Scanlon (Scott) Scanlon, Susan (Jerry) LaVanture, Cynthia (Michael) Goodrick-Wiesen and Bill (Meredith) Goodrick. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Jason (Heather) LaVanture, Leah LaVanture, Danielle (DJ) Keller, Ellen Abbey, Jackson Goodrick, Riley Scanlon, Brady Scanlon and two great-grandchildren; Emerson and Ava, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

A Funeral Mass honoring Virginia will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 720 Second St., Traverse City, Michigan, 49684. Rev. Fr. Antony Citro will officiate.
