ALDEN — Vivian Layton (Moeke), 90, of Alden, died Friday, Jan. 14. A dedicated public school teacher, Viv taught high school physical education and English, ending her career at East Grand Rapids High in 1980. An avid skier, gardener, cook and traveler, Viv embraced life with passion, vigor, laughter and love. She is survived by Norris, her loving husband of 68 years; her daughters, Norian Lenz (Larry), Jan Morrison and Ann Layton; her grandsons, Michael Johnson (Dana) and Clay Morrison (Nancy); five wonderful great-grandchildren; and her dog, Susie. The family will be hosting a celebration of life in Alden at the Depot Park in June, dedicating a park bench overlooking her beloved Torch Lake.
