Vonnie Bunt

Vonnie joined her Wally in Heaven on Saturday February 3, 2018. She has missed him so much.
Carlene Yvonne Bunt, better known as Vonnie, died February 3, 2018 at the age of 92. She was one of five children born to the late Leonard and Dorothy Wilkinson in Lansing. She recovered from Polio as a child and went on to play the accordion with an all girls group. She completed her nursing degree and served at a hospital during the war.
She met the love of her life, Wally, after meeting him on a street corner in Lansing. Together they shared 72 years of marriage after getting married on June 30, 1944 before he left for the war.
She moved to the Netherlands and Williamsburg, VA to be with Wally for his career. She always made a wonderful home for her family wherever they went.
Vonnie was very active with her church work at First Methodist in Midland, the Williamsburg Methodist Church in Virginia and then at Central United Methodist in Traverse City. Her faith was always important to her and never more so than the last few months.
Vonnie is survived by her children, son Jon Todd of Traverse City and daughters Rebecca (Mark) Fries and Jana Lindberg, both of Traverse City; grandchildren Jacob Bunt, Jason Lindberg and Jeff Lindberg. Also surviving are brothers Roger (Laura) Wilkinson, Lynn (Pauline) Wilkinson, Randy Wilkinson and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Wally, her parents and sister Sally.
The family wishes to thank Pastor Dale and Pastor Chris for their prayers and support during many difficult times over the past year. They would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Munson Medical Center for the excellent care mom received and the compassion they showed our family during her passing.
The memorial service celebrating Vonnie's life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Light refreshments will follow the service.
