Wallace Edward Schaub

Wallace Edward Schaub, 86, of Traverse City , passed away early Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.

Wally was born on Friday, June 27, 1930 to the late Emanuel and Lillian (Drow) Schaub in Traverse City. On Saturday, Oct. 25, 1947, Wally married the former Louise Carrie Grant at St. Francis Catholic Church. This coming week they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

A sheet metal worker by trade, Wally was a member of Sheetmetal Local #7 and worked for various contractors in Traverse City and surrounding communities. He was a member of St. Francis Parish. For many years he enjoyed tinkering with cars and dune buggies, gardening and woodworking. His most favorite hobby was fishing, especially for perch.

Wally's family was the light of his life and he was especially proud that his granddaughter Amy Houdek Pallo was crowned the Cherry Queen at the National Cherry Festival in 1996.

Surviving Wally is his wife Louise; a son, Rodney and Shirley ( Bright), a daughter Renee Houdek and her significant other, Robert Howard; his grandchildren, Corey and Ann, Casey and Tina Schaub , Amy and Mike Pallo, J. R. Houdek and Heather, and 10 great grandchildren, as well as his sister, Viola Salgat, and several nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Gerry Jarvie. He's also survived by the very loving Grant Family.

Visitation for Wally will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at a later time at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
