Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Wanda Cooper, 86, of Traverse City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at Munson Hospice House.Wanda was born April 29, 1924, in Detroit, the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie Bargy. On Jan. 23, 1946, Wanda married Nolan Lee Cooper, who preceded her in death in 2004.Wanda worked at GMC and retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1984 after years of service in the accounting department. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was on several bowling teams. She loved her time spent on Torch Lake and her home in Traverse City. She enjoyed feeding the birds and watching wildlife. Wanda is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Don) Schmidt, of Charlotte, and Lynn Cooper, of Torch Lake; a granddaughter, Amanda (Brian) Whitacre; her sister, Gloria Haskell; several nieces and nephews; and a special daughter-like friend, Karen Salmon.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A service of remembrance celebrating Wanda's life will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, also at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sandy Murray presiding.
