---- — ACME-- Wanda Kozlowski Fettig, 94, of Acme passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Bay Ridge Assisted Living.Wanda was born on Sept. 5, 1917, in Detroit to the late Walter and Felicia (Klopocinski) Buraczynski. On Sept. 11, 1937, Wanda married Stanley Joseph Kozlowski in Detroit. Wanda and Stan were entrepreneurs before entrepreneurship was fashionable. They left their families and home in Detroit in 1946 and moved to Acme where they raised their three children. In 1948, they built the first restaurant in Acme, the Stony Hollow Hut (the current site of McDonald's) on U.S .31 North in Acme. Stan and Wanda were part of the founding 100 contributors that originally funded Northwestern Michigan College in 1951. Wanda, along with Bertha Arnold, co-founded the Acme Women's Club in the mid-'50s; she was also an active member of the St. Francis Altar Society.In 1981, she married Arthur Fettig, of Traverse City. Wanda and Art celebrated 28 years happy years together. Art preceded Wanda in death in May 2009. Also preceding her in death were her husband Stan, her brother Eugene Brady, her son-in-law, Mike Erhardt, and her grandson, Joe Koslowski. Wanda is survived by her daughter Patricia Erhardt, of East Lansing, Karen Howie, of Acme, and Stanley (Susan) Kozlowski, of Denver; eight grandchildren; 10 stepchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. with the Rosary to be prayed at 3 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Wanda's life will be held on Monday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church.Memorial contributions in memory of Wanda may be directed to the Acme Township Waterfront Fund.The family would like to give special thanks to Bay Ridge Assisted Living and Hospice of Michigan for the loving care that they provided as Wanda completed her life's journey.Wanda believed in Angels on earth; her two special Angels were Vicky Baker and Woody Hansen.Please visit
